lithograph text of an indian tale

    India
    17 x 25 cm 5 cm thick
    Thin text with 14 illustrations

From the 19th century to the first decade of the 20th, India was at the hub of a great expansion in lithographic printing. Hundreds of lithographic printing houses flourished in India.

The period of active lithographic book printing started a deep decline in the early 1900s although printing of highly specialized materials did continue.

Over this period, many tales and legends were recounted in lithograph texts. Among these are stories about devotees of Lord Krishna, great warriors, gods and demons, and filial piety. These stories are often
interwoven with themes from politics, morality, philosophy, love, war, parenting and religion.

Sewn pages. No covers. Some tears. Images are in good condition.
