Late 17th century and later, painting depicting two female figures and an infant, attributed to Gerard de Lairesse (1640-1711) or Follower of Gerard de Lairesse. The frame has a name plaque to the bottom, of ‘J. Lairesse’, and after consultation with Rijksmuseum Research Services, the painting is more likely by Gerard de Lairesse or a Follower of Gerard de Lairesse than his son and pupil, Johannes de Lairesse (1673-1716). Gerard de Lairesse had the reputation of being one of the best painters of allegorical subjects in Amsterdam in his day. Influenced by Rembrandt and French neoclassical art, he also gave lectures and published 2 volumes on art theory after losing his sight in circa 1690. It has been recently re-lined and restored.
