Circa 1930s. A large still oil painting of a vase with Phlox and some fruit, on a table, with stylish gilt slip, all contained in a painted, swept, moulded frame. The painting is signed on the right-hand side, verso, written, ‘Phlox by Margaret Wright’. The painting is well executed and in excellent condition. ‘Margaret Wright was born in Ayr in 1884, studying at the Glasgow School of Art from 1902 – 1908. She was part of the Glasgow society of lady artists and influenced by the Glasgow boys; she exhibited regularly at the Royal Glasgow Institute, Royal Scottish Academy, and the Paisley Art Institute.’

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
