Gold pocket watch 14K with a chain, made by Pavel Bure company in 1888. The watch case is made of 585-carat gold (14K) and decorated with an applied double-headed eagle, topped with a blue and black enamel ribbon with the image of the State Emblem of the Russian Empire. The guilloche pattern on the case emphasizes the craftsmanship. The watch is equipped with a mechanical movement with manual winding, a white enamel dial, Roman and Arabic numerals for hours, Arabic numerals for minutes, and an additional dial for seconds. The product is presented in the original leather case. Serial number: 11892, corresponding to the year of production 1888. Dimensions: Watch: diameter 48.8 mm, weight 80 g. Chain: length 33 cm, weight 25.42 g. Total weight: 105.42 grams. Hallmarks: Swiss hallmark Squirrel for items made of 585-carat gold (14K); Numbers 14K; Inscription in Cyrillic Pavel Bure, Supplier to the Court of His Majesty; Numbers 11892. There are two hard-to-read hallmarks on the chain. Historical information: The watch company Pavel Bure is one of the most famous Russian watch brands of the 19th-20th centuries. It was founded in 1815 by Karl Bure in St. Petersburg, and later management passed to his son Pavel. In 1874, the company received the status of the Trading House Pavel Bure, expanding production and opening a factory in Switzerland. In 1899, the company became the official supplier of the Imperial Court, becoming famous for the precision and exquisite design of its watches. In the same year, at the World Exhibition in Paris, the brand received the Grand Prix. After the revolution of 1917, production was stopped, and the company ceased its activities. Historical information: Joseph Forest (1865 – ?) was an outstanding French geographer and cartographer who left a significant mark in the field of cartography and educational materials. In 1886, he founded his own publishing house, which specialized in the creation of maps, plans, globes, spheres (both terrestrial and celestial), tables and wall maps, widely used in educational institutions. Forest`s publishing house, originally located at 17-19 rue de Bussy in Paris, later moved to Bagneux on rue 13th October. Since 1889, the publishing house`s products have been approved by the French Ministry of Public Education and are actively used in educational institutions. In addition to traditional cartographic products, Forest produced unique items, including globe lighters. In 1912, Joseph Forest was appointed Counselor for Foreign Trade of France and actively promoted the country`s interests in the international arena. In 1922, he was re-confirmed in this position, which confirms his significant contribution to the development of national cartography and education.
