Blue & White Moonflask Vase
Ming Dynasty, Xuande Period 1426-1435 AD.
Rare Ming dynasty moonflask vase Xuande mark and of the period. Of double gourd form, each domed facet of the moonflask well painted with phoenixes among clouds, the bulb neck with a thin floral band, above the pair of loop handles with ruyi shaped terminals painted with lotus sprays, all raised on a low rectangular foot. Please note photo colour might deviate slightly in comparison to the original artefact. Flask of this form and size are illustrated by J. Ayers, Far Eastern Ceramics in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1980, no. 145; by R. Krahl, Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, Istanbul, London, 1986, vol2 no.616.
