Vintage Shelley 10794 Teapot with Historic Staple Repair | Soane & Smith Knightsbridge SW | English Bone China Collectible (c. 1920s)
Shelley bone china teapot, featuring the distinctive Shelley mark alongside the prestigious retailer stamp of Soane & Smith Ltd., Knightsbridge S.W. This piece embodies the elegance of early 20th-century English tea culture and carries a unique story of preservation.
    About the Teapot:
Manufactured by Shelley Potteries and retailed by Soane & Smith Ltd., Knightsbridge S.W., London.
Marked with the number 10794, representing a specific and lesser-known pattern within Shelley's extensive catalogue.
Dating from the operational period of Soane & Smith Ltd., approximately 1920s to 1940s, this teapot captures the classic aesthetic of the era.
Crafted from delicate and luminous fine English bone china, a hallmark of Shelley's quality.
    The Staple Repair
This teapot proudly displays a historical staple (or rivet) repair, a fascinating and once-common method for mending cherished porcelain before modern adhesives became widely available.
The visible staples are a testament to the teapot's value and the care taken to preserve it in a bygone era, adding a layer of authenticity and historical intrigue that appeals to many collectors who appreciate the "make do and mend" philosophy.
Condition Note: Please examine the photos closely to appreciate this unique historical repair. No cracks, chips or crazing otherwise. Some light staining to internal spout on close inspection.
Perfect for collectors of Shelley china and unique pottery repairs.

Measurements: Height 12cms; Spout to handle 19cms
Please Note: This listing is for the single teapot as described. While this piece has been historically repaired for continued use, we recommend it primarily as a display item due to its age and the nature of the repair.
