Circa 1910, exhibition quality buffet by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh, after a design by Sir Robert Lorimer. The top has a raised, wrap around moulded edge. There are pull out slides at each end with classic Lorimer handles and a recessed panel within them. Below this is a stylish but simple shaped apron on all sides. There is a shelf in the centre with a rebated moulded edge, and beneath this another larger shelf with an ogee moulding beneath. At the top of the legs is a foliate carving, over a section almost like a cluster column and a further foliate carving, finishing on cabriole legs with pad feet. Great colour and patination.
