ITEM 1462 DESCRIPTION
A Portuguese NAV porcelain circular bowl and cover on a circular stand. Decorated in a pale blue glaze band with flowers and foliage and with gilt decorated moulded pomegranate and foliage handle. The lobed stand is similarly decorated on a short knop stem above a spreading domed foot. Most of the items produced by the NAV factory seem to be small trinket boxes with floral and Souvenir Heraldic decorations. The factory appears to be of late 20th-century origin along with a few others probably set up after the revolution in the early 70s, it appears their marks haven’t yet been listed in any of the Dictionaries of Continental Porcelain Factories. Despite other detailed research it has not been possible to trace the location of the NAV Factory. Portugal has a good history of producing fine quality faience since the 18th Century with many varied factories (see the book: Faianca Portuguesa, Seculos XVIII-XIX, Arthur De Sandao).
