Circa 1770, pair of mahogany inlaid George III knife boxes of substantial size. With large inlaid oval panel to the top, the front of the boxes are shaped and follow the form of the lid. Opening to reveal various compartments inside (adapted) and the front has a heraldic shield shaped escutcheon. The sides and backs are polished and beneath the base is a simple beading.
