    A Very Impressive Example of a Pair of English Moore Brothers Porcelain Vases or Centerpieces of outstanding quality and condition.

     
    Last quarter of the Nineteenth Century.
     
    This rare and unusual tall slender form bodies depicting flowering Cacti, each with a loosely draped winged Cherub, ending on circular naturalistic bases with Greek Key pattern in gilt and black enameling.
     
    Condition: Superb condition for such an early piece, professional restoration to one wing, some restortaion to tips at rim tops, there one hairline to each base, see images. Impressed marks at base are indistinct.
     
    Height: 9” (23cm). Width: (at widest area) 6.75” (16.5cm). Diameter: (at base) 4.25" (10.5cm).

    Moore Brothers 1872-1905 a brief history:
     
    Bernard Moore and his younger brother Samulel Vincent Moore were manufacturers of China Tableware, high quality ornamental items to include Mantle Clocks and Fluid Lamps, almost using cream grounds wih gilt highlights, some decorative pieces were also hand painted in colours. The factory was located in St. Mary’s Works, Longton, Staffordshire, England, employing up to one hundred and fifty people by 1881.
     
    In September 1905 the their original moulds were sold to Thomas C Wild.
     
    Bernard Moore moved to premises at Wolfe Street, Stoke, on his own he became a “Consultant Potter” making pieces with spectacular glazes.
