Bronze sculpture titled "The Thinker" with green and brown patina signed E.PICAULT late 19th, total height 65 cm, stamp of the founder on the back.ARTIST: Émile Louis PICAULT (1833-1915) was a sculptor of allegories, mythological compositions, medalist, symbolist.
He executed figures exalting patriotic virtues, often accompanied by historical or mythological sentences this share the abundant works of this sculptor who appears in the Salon from 1863. His works are present in many museums. It is referenced in the dictionary of painters, sculptors, draughtsmen and engravers of E. BENEZIT editions GRÜND but also in the dictionary of sculptors of Pierre KJELLBERG "The bronzes of the nineteenth century" editions of the amateur. Surmounted by a majestic eagle spreading its wings and ready to soar from the high summit overlooking humanity, the Thinker invites us to reflection and meditation with these few words inscribed on his tablet "It is on the high peaks that the thinker meditates".
