Circa 1900, George II style mahogany bow front chest on chest. The polished top has a flat edge over an ogee moulding , an apron with matching veneers both left and right, and a double beading. On the top is a configuration of four graduating drawers, separated from the bottom by stylish mouldings. Beneath this is a brushing slide, and three further drawers. The drawers are crossbanded and have cast brass engraved escutcheons and handles with a stylish backplate. The handles and escutcheons have been distressed to make them look older than they are. The drawers have oak liners with an oak muntin in the centre for extra support. Beneath the bottom drawer is a moulded edge and the whole piece stands on four bracket feet. Good colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
