Overview:
This is a very fine example of a Chinese antique beaker vase, which I’m releasing from my private collection - the photos really don't do it justice. The vase dates from the 1700s and features hand painted flowers with panels containing typical Chinese watery landscapes. The tall elegantly shaped slender porcelain vase has a trumpet shaped top and is painted with a detailed scene of buildings and figures set within a watery landscape with mountains in the background. The scene is contained within abstract scroll border. The scene is repeated to either side of the vase with two smaller scenes surrounded by floral sprigs painted in between. A decorative blockwork border is painted around the foot with a more detailed floral and formal border painted around the top with a simple decorative border to the inside rim. The decoration is painted in underglaze blue on a white ground. The vase is not marked. There is a growing interest in Chinese artifacts resulting in rising prices, making the beaker vase an excellent long-term financial investment.
