A nice quality Chinese export Batavian ware teabowl and saucer, covered overall with a typical rich iron brown glaze apart from the bases, and dating from the Kangxi or Yongzheng periods c 1725. The saucer has a fluted rim, and the teabowl is moulded with two rows of petals. Both the teabowl and saucer were originally gilded, but this has now rubbed off leaving only a faint 'shadow' of the gilding (visible in the photographs). Saucer diameter 11cm (4.3"), teabowl diameter 6.6cm (2.6")
