    chinese dehua blanc de chine whistle, kangxi

    A charming miniature blanc de Chine whistle, made in the Dehua kilns in Fujian Province, and dating to the Kangxi period. The whistle is in the form of a European man wearing a tricorn hat and sitting astride a scaly dragon. Length 4.6 cm (1.8")

    A similar figure is illustrated in 'Blanc de Chine, The Great Porcelain of Dehua' by Robert H. Blumenfield, p78
    Dating: Kangxi c 1680 - 1720
    The tip of the whistle has broken off. No other damage, and no restoration
