This is a superb Chinese Cantonese famille rose antique teapot I’m releasing from my private collection - a very fine example. The teapot dates from the 1800s and is in excellent condition, with no damage. The teapot is decorated in traditional famille rose designs. The cylindrical shaped porcelain teapot has a raised narrow top with a small bowl shaped cover which sits in the recess. The shoulder of the teapot is applied with two raised attachments to hold the wire handle. The teapot is extensively hand painted with various panels some containing figures and others with birds, butterflies and floral designs. The areas in between the panels have also been painted with floral and butterfly designs in brightly coloured enamels with gilded highlights. The lid too has been painted in similar style. The teapot has an unglazed foot and is typically not marked. A stunning example. There is a growing interest in Chinese artifacts resulting in rising prices, making the teapot an excellent long-term financial investment.
