attractive chinese early ming longquan celadon jar

A heavily potted Chinese Ming Dynasty Longquan celadon guan jar,produced at the Longquan Kilns in Zhejiang Province, and dating from the early Ming period c 1350-1450. The widest part of the body is decorated with carved scrolling floral decoration above a band of stiff leaves around the foot. Both the unglazed rim and the side of the foot have fired a rich orange-red colour. The light grey body is exposed at the foot. The jar is covered with a beautiful pale green glaze. Height 16cm (6.3"), diameter at widest point 17.5cm (6.9").

Date: Early Ming c 1350 - 1450ConditionThere is restoration to a shallow chip on the outside of the mouth and there is a chip to the inside of the foot together with a small and shallow chip to the red edge of the foot. There is some surface wear to the glaze around the widest part of the body, as expected from 600 years of use. Please see images.
