attractive c19th pair of famille verte chinese guardian lions

A pair of porcelain Chinese guardian lions (shishi, also known in the West as dogs of Fo or Foo dogs) sitting on pierced pedestals, decorated on the biscuit with susancai (famille verte) yellow, green and deep aubergine enamels and dating from the Nineteenth Century. The female lion has a lion cub under her paw, and the male lion a pierced ball. The bases are unglazed. Height 17.5cm (6.9")

An attractive pair. Dating: Second half of the Nineteenth Century Condition:These two figures are in excellent condition. There is loss to the tip of one tooth of the female lion, but otherwise no chips, cracks or restoration
