These mugs express the popularity of Frederick The Great at the time of manufacture. Prussia was Britain's principal ally in the seven years war against France and the mugs celebrate Frederick's early successes of 1757. Britain's war at the time was mostly confined to areas of colonial friction with France such as North America and India and at sea, with Prussia the principle combatant within Continental Europe.
