Circa 1860, unusual amboyna and metal inlaid decanter box. The rectangular box has a double brass inlaid top with a design panel to the centre with brass and coloured enamels. The top on the front is hinged and opens to reveal 16 glasses and 4 decanters. The sides of the decanter box are hinged, swinging open and the glasses are mounted on small walnut brackets. The 4 decanters sit on a slightly recessed section with brass inlay and wood separating dividers, and there are 2 removable slides. There are 2 styles of glasses in the decanter box. The double brass inlay continues around the sides and it stands on a raised, enclosed ogee-shaped plinth. Beneath this there is a small half round beading and a further small block.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
