Item Type: Japanese Short Sword (Aikuchi Tanto) with complete mountings (koshirae) and accompanying utility knife (kogatana).
Edo Period (1603–1868).
: Aikuchi style mount featuring a flush hilt-to-scabbard transition without a traditional guard (tsuba), paired with a textured black-wrap (tsukamaki) handle over white ray skin and a rich reddish-brown/black lacquered scabbard (saya).
Included Components:
Main tanto blade with wooden placeholder/habaki assembly.
Matching kozuka handle and kogatana utility blade (bearing a traditional maker signature).
Accompanying kogai accessory tool.
Condition & Notes: Preserved historical set showing authentic age patination. The aikuchi mounts are clean and tight, making this an exceptional display piece for collectors of Japanese samurai arts and antique edged weapons.
