Circa late 19th century, a lot of 85 pieces of Scottish mauchline ware. Including mauchline bound books, novelty items, desk sets, photo frames, napkin rings and toiletry set. Each piece has been decorated with designs including pictures of Scottish monuments and landscapes, such as Burns’ Cottage, Alloway Kirk and Conway Castle and Bridge, or portraits of Robert Burns. Most of the set also feature the location produced or purchased:
‘Made of Dunkeld Wood’
‘Warranted – Made of Wood Which Grew Within The Railing at Burns’ Monument’
‘Made from the Rafters of Burns’ Cottage’
Also included to some pieces is a makers’ label of ‘W+A Smith – Manufacturers of Fancy Wood Ware, Mauchline Ayrshire’.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
