. Longcase Grandfather Clock Lovely looking cottage clock of simple appearance circa 1740/50 eight day longcase clock which strikes each hour on a bell . Fully restored country cottage small Longcase. Lovely colour. The case made of oak the trunk door with locking Door and key with glass lentical is nice . The trunk with square corners finished .The hood with nice turned columns and a lovely carved section backed with maroon cloth and a flat top is a very nice feature . The clock standing just short of 78.00 inches high with a width of 19.00 inches at the widest part the top of the hood the trunk being just over 12 inches wide l .The movement has recently had a strip down clean oiled and new gut lines is in perfect working order, the case been restored to bring it back to it's former glory ready to display in the home ,and requires no further restoration . The fantastic 11 inch square dial with silvered chapter ring calendar dial and the name R Marshall Wolshingham engraved on it together with the name John Blenk we assume is the first owner of the clock a nice feature complete with nice period hands. (The Marshall family of Wolsingham in County Durham made clocks over several generations. Richard Marshall, Sr. (1708-1774).
Richard Marshall, Sr. produced very many clocks as numerous examples of his work have been recorded).
Complete with 2 lead weights pendulum and winding crank key. All in all a lovely period Longcase clock which would grace any home. Please study the photos as these form part of the description.
