Antique Restored Longcase Clock.
(Isaac Du Hamel was working in London 1731 to 1755 of French extraction (Hugenot heritage. His work, which speaks for itself, was always of the highest quality. His clocks and watches can be found in the best collections and the Royal Collection has some very fine examples of his family’s work) , often in burr walnut with elaborate brass dials featuring date/seconds dials and mask spandrels, reflecting fine craftsmanship of his era. A Fine Quality Figured walnut Longcase Clock, Circa 1735 beautiful figured walnut, an imposing and impressive clock. The movement has been stripped down, cleaned, oiled with new gut lines together with a lovely arch brass dial and silvered chapter ring with a seconds dial and calendar facility fitted . Complete with 2 brass cased weights, quality pendulum and winding crank key. All in all, a lovely period Longcase clock which would grace any home. Size height standing 92.00 inches to the top of the flat-top add a bit more for the wooden finials (the period finials are just over 6.5 inches high) ,a width of 19 inches at its widest point with the trunk just under 13.5 inches wide, all in perfect working restored condition. The 12 inch arched brass dial with mask head spandrels enclosing a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and outer minute markers and half hour markers surrounding a matted centre with shaped name plaque, the arch with silent strike dial is very nice. Fronting an eight-day five pillar weight driven movement with anchor escapement striking the hours on a cast bell. The flat top hood with blind fretwork and circular columns it has its pagoda removable top which adds 7 inches. Please see pictures off and on, an arch top figured walnut trunk door with feather inlay , The plinth base with feather inlay compliments the clock. Complete with 2 brass cased weights, quality pendulum and winding crank key. All in all, a lovely period Longcase clock which would grace any home. Size height standing just 88.00 inches to the top of the arch add a bit more for the finials, ( the gilded wooden finals are a reproduction of the era) a width of 20 inches at its widest point with the trunk just under 14 inches wide, all in perfect working restored condition.
