    THE SPITTON WAS VERY POPULAR IN THE 19TH CENTURY,USED MAINLY BY TOBACCO CHEWERS TO DISPOSE OF THE CHEWED TOBACCO.THIS ORNAMENT IS MARKED IN GREEK LETTERS AND STILL MAINTAINS A POLISHED FINISHING.
