This table top snuff box was made by William Comyns with hallmarks for London 1885. It is of square proportions with a crimped edge at the top and bottom of the box. The cover, which is hinged, displays a raised image of Windsor Castle. It appears to be a view which incorporates a bridge, and a river scene. The height of the dome is approx 1cm from the flat edge of the box. Around all four sides of the box is some simple scrolled decoration. There are the hallmarks to the right hand side of the box. The interior is gilded. It appears that where the top has been raised, there is a further piece of guilded metal covering the inside of the raise. The base is of plain relief although there are some light etchings of a number. It appears to read 816/3597. There appears to be no major damage or restoration that has taken place to this box. There is one slight crimp to the bottom left hand corner.
