A late 19th century Victorian walking cane with a silver metal knob handle. The silver metal handle is embossed with a regimental crest of The 2nd Battalion of the South Wales Borderers 24th Regiment of Foot and the year 1879. The regiment fought in the Zulu War of 1879, its most famous endeavour being the defence of the mission station of Rourke's Drift as depicted in the classic film Zulu. The stick has a wooden shaft with a silvered metal ferule in the style of a belt. The stick is in good condition but the silver metal handle is worn and slightly dented.
