Circa 1900, set of 12 mahogany dining chairs, consisting of 10 singles and 2 armchairs. With shaped top rail with paper-fold sections either end, above a well-carved back, with open slats, foliate carving and central ribbons and tails. With solid mahogany shaped arms that have scrolled fronts, and are held in place by two well-shaped uprights. The drop-in upholstered seat is in a moulded frame, and on square, slightly tapering and outswept back legs. The front legs are square and tapering, and all with H stretchers, and an extra stretcher to the back legs for further stability.
