Overview:
This is an exceptional and fine Oriental carved ox bone figure of a wildcat dating from the 1800s. The cat is carved from a single piece of ox bone and stands perched on a hollow carved rockwork styled base which has in turn been mounted on an oval shaped carved base. The detail is exceptional with blackened highlights and facial features. The wildcat is typically not marked and was acquired as Chinese. A rare and exceptionally well carved example from my private collection.
Date: 1800s
Size: Height 7.5cm
Condition: Excellent - no damage
