    Description:

A REMARKABLE REGENCY MAHOGANY MARQUETRY INLAID LONGCASE CLOCK - SUPERB PROVENANCE

A truly stunning original time piece with several good areas of provenance!

The piece dates to circa 1810-1820 (George III)

Originally retailed, we believe by Edwards & Roberts, London

The piece has a solid mahogany clock case which is embellished with outstanding marquetry inlay which includes exotic birds, urns and lots of foliage.

The 8 Day bell ringing Clock movement is signed on the bottom of the clock movement at the front: 'John Hunt, London ' or 'Jo Hunt, London' (Please see images)

The Longcase pendulum door opens to reveal a solid brass information plaque which reads:

    'Presented to,

    CHARLES WALTER KELLOW

as a mark of high esteem
and in grateful recognition to his
    invaluable services during the
Handover Elections of the 1880 and 1895
    by he's friend
    FRANCIS WILLIAM BUXTON
    1886

Of excellent colouration & patina, the piece is in fully working order and comes with a winding clock key.

A really beautiful example which would benefit from much further research
