A pair of quality circa 1830 54 bore Box-lock pocket pistols by Mabson,Labron & Mabson. Each are 19cm long overall with screw off 7.5 cm long octagonal barrels signed to top flats in front of the percussion actions, with sliding safety catch. Foliate engraved actions, fold down triggers, thumb piece safety and flat sided grips. British proof marks to the underside of barrels.

Mabson Labron & Mabson had a work shop at 25 Russell Street, Birmingham (1827-1833).

This is the type of small pistol that would have been carried in a pocket or a saddle bag during the 18 - 19th century by a gentleman, traveller, or officer as a personal protection weapon.

One hammer locks in full and half cock and one does not, but seems to retain a strong spring. Therefore, only one trigger mechanism drops correctly on cocking. Both have minor wear and pitting to barrels. One has a small repair to wooden grip. Overall good condition

As obsolete antique pistols no licence is required to own these items in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display.
