Possibly 19th century and presumed either French or English is this mid brown salt glazed toby jug which due to the circumference of the size opening of the decanting spout at the pinnacle of the hat, the jug may have contained sprite rather than beer.

The figures moulding is robust rather than being crisp and defined but never-the-less extremely pleasing to the eye and would make an excellent addition to any collection.

This jug also has an unusually small ring lop handle adequate in size only for a single finger rather than the sized handles normally associated with toby jugs.

The jug stands approximately 22cm to the ceramic topped cork, depth 11.5cm and width 11.5cm and has no chips or cracks.

On the base of the jug there is signature but unfortunately only the initials S.D. are legible.

My pasion is for antiques collectbles. I now are only operating as an Internet shop on www.antiques.co.uk, as these huge overheads with a bricks and mortar premises are no longer viable. We are passing on these savings to our customers making the prices more reasonable. Having turned to the internet and finding that all over heads are kept to a absolute minimum we realised that this is the best forward for any antique dealer or collector to display their items to an enormous audience globally open 24 hours a day seven days a week. We hope you enjoy all our uniquely chosen items here on WWW.antiques.co.uk
