Circa 1880. An exhibition quality French Second Empire three door breakfront walnut wardrobe. The arched and pierced top carved in rococo style, each of the three doors with shaped and bevel edged mirrors, with a fine beaded fore-edge and foliate carving in various locations. The large central door opens to reveal uninterrupted hanging inside with birds eye maple on the inside and oak paneling to the sides and back, flanked by a pair of smaller doors which are similar inside, with adjustable shelves and hanging rail, beneath the doors there is a shaped frieze with foliate carving and concealing three drawers. The paneled gables with mirror matched veneers, all resting on four well carved squat cabriole legs with foliate carving on the knees and finishing on a curled foot and similar feet on the back.
