    Rochegrosse George Anthony was born in Versailles in 1859. He died in Algiers in 1938. Very quickly abandoned by his father, he became the adopted son of Théodore de Banville following the remarriage of his mother. His education takes place in an intellectual and artistic community. Student of the Julian Academy and Fine Arts in Paris, he had to masters Alfred Dehodencq, Jules Lefebvre, Gustave Boulanger ... Since its first participation in the 1882 show, it is medalist. It then traverses across Europe at the age of 24 years. Painter of historical scenes, he then tries to symbolism then turns to Orientalism discovering Algeria in 1894 where he met his future wife. He was appointed Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1892 (he became an officer in 1910) In 1900 he settled permanently in El Biar, in the suburb of Alger.En hand it was in Paris that it happens every summer. There is a jury member of "French artist" and a professor at the academy Druet.
