Circa 1870, fine ormolu French mantel clock with the retailers name on the front T A Simpson & Co and at the base A. Paris. The clock is surmounted by two small gilded cherubs, one holding a mythical bird. Beneath this is a convex glass door with a bevelled edge, held in a stylish brass beaded bezel. The clock face has Roman and Arabic numerals and very stylish hand cut hands of open fretwork. There are some damage to the enamel around the winding section. There are 2 winding sections for the time piece and strikes, which strikes on the half hour and on the hour. The body of the clock has wonderful scrolling Rococo foliate casting which holds the clock in place in the centre. This stands on a base with various raised sections and a cluster of flowers in the centre. The whole piece stands on a variety of turned feet with foliate casting and others in the form of upturned leaves. The clock will be serviced and working and comes complete with pendulum and key.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
