ITEM 1566 CONDITION
Items are in good condition although some of the cloth bindings on some of the volumes show visible signs of being sunned. All items show light to moderate visible shelf wear, occasional rubbing, and a few bumped corners. Spines are lightly and uniformly sunned and with surprisingly little wear or bumping to spine ends. Deckled fore-edge; top and bottom edges are gilded. Textblocks are uniformly fine with bright clean leaves and only very occasional smudging or foxing.

Eleven large octavo text volumes featuring numerous fold-out maps and illustrations plus four octavo volumes of plates, photographs, and illustrations designed to complement the text. Brick red cloth covers with gilt design on cover and gilt lettering on spine. Please note that this set lacks Vol. XII (first series): The Imperial Crisis And Recovery A.D. 193-324.
