A blanc de Chine libation or wine cup from the Dehua kilns, dating from the Kangxi period. The cup copies a rhinoceros horn shape, and is on a foot formed from prunus branches, with two flowering branches extended up the sides of the cup. Widest diameter 8.7 cm (3.4”)
A group of related cups can be seen in plate 122 in the book ‘Blanc de Chine, Porcelain from Dehua’ by Rose Kerr and John Ayers .
Dating: Kangxi 1662 - 1722
Condition:
There is a small and shallow chip to the foot (please see first image). No other damage and no restoration. There is a small amount of kiln grit fired into the glaze in the interior.
