A Victorian exhibition quality dated tea caddy with a plaque on the front presented in September 1873. The large size burr walnut tea caddy has canted corners, and a hinged lid that opens. The inside of the lid and walls are veneered in burr walnut. It has 2 original canisters with domed tops covered in burr walnut inlay and they are hinged. These canisters are removable and fit snugly into their apertures. The front of the caddy has a Heraldic brass escutcheon, burr walnut veneers and round canted corners. The burr walnut continues around the sides and back. It is the original woven walnut base. The caddy is in great condition.
