antique african zulu assegai spear head (ref: 40753)

Antique African Zulu Warrior’s Assegai spear head. With distinctive leaf-shaped blade with fine patina. The blade exhibits a distinctive rib to its full length. These short throwing or stabbing spears were also known as an Iklwa within the Zulu nation and proved a fearsome weapon in the hands of a Zulu warrior, most notably during the late-19th Century Zulu Wars against the British Army.

SIZE: 8 1/2" long

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor surface tarnish. Spear tip lost in history, minor nicks to blade edges. Conserved using museum approved Micro-Crystalline Wax, very sound and ready to display.
