    Antique ASPREY OF LONDON Antique Victorian Leather & Silver FITTED TRAVEL CASE

    ITEM DESCRIPTION: An Original Authentic Fine Quality Victorian Leather Travel Bag or Vanity Case with Carrying Handle by ASPREY of New Bond Street, London. Fully marked. A beautiful leather case in a deep burgundy colour with Watered Silk Lining and compartments for such as an Inkwell, a Match Holder, a Pin Cushion, a Card Case, a Folding Mirror, a Stationary Folder and SEVEN Silver Topped Glass Bottles by Thomas Wheeler, London 1887. There is some age wear, some missing compartments and one side needs re-stitching, but in good, original, unrestored condition. Initialled M.K.G. A Suberb Antique Piece of Aspreys.

     
    In 1781, Founded as a silk printing business by William Asprey, it soon became a luxury emporium. In 1841, William Asprey's elder son Charles went into partnership with a stationer located on London's Bond Street. In 1847, the family broke with this partner and moved into no. 167 New Bond Street. Asprey today holds a Royal warrant as silversmiths and Goldsmiths under HRH Prince of Wales patronage.
