walnut canterbury by morison & co of edinburgh

Circa 1880, a very unusual walnut Canterbury by Morison & Co of Edinburgh, with four stylish turned and carved upright columns with fluting, relief carving and wonderful finials. These support the four sections with dipped centres and open slats. Beneath the front section is a single drawer with scratch carving which has been gilded and wonderful fluted carved knobs. The drawer opens to reveal the makers name of Morison & Co. The sides and the back have similar gilded scratch carving. Standing on unusual and stylish turned and tapering feet finishing on brass cup castors with solid brass wheels. The whole piece has excellent colour and condition. Unusual to find a Canterbury of this period by Morision & Co. This is an exhibition quality piece of Edinburgh made furniture.
