    Two chiseled and gilt bronze groups representing a man and a woman, carrying a child, AFTER A MODEL BY CORNEILLE VAN CLEVE (1646-1732), on a cylindric pedestal with a square white marble base. Like under the Restauration, the decorative arts under Napoléon III are pleasant, kind to delight the public and not to exalt the heroism. A sober decor, reflecting the peace and sweetness of life follows the warrior symbols of the Empire although the prince-president tried to put into fashion this ornament.
