An early 18th century George I figured walnut veneered document box. The oblong box is made from oak that is veneered with walnut, cross banded and has line inlays. The edges of the box and the hinged lid have a fine decorative moulding. The base of the box has a quarter round moulded edge and is raised on bracket feet. The box is in good condition with old replacement hinges, it has a working lock and key but the catch on the lid is missing.
