Circa 1830, a William IV carved giltwood overmantel mirror, with a hand bevelled edge and rounded corners contained in a wonderful elegant carved gilded frame. The top is surmounted with a gilded eagle which has a foliate carving on either side and finished with 2 simple gilded fleur-de-lis. Below the top section are carved gilded balls and some simple carved wood. The bottom of the mirror again has foliate carving which lies up the side of the mirror and extends out to the left and right. The mirror is in very good condition and is original – the gilding is also original and has a nice finish.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
