A good example of the pattern of helmet introduced to the regiment in 1882. Modelled on the 1871 pattern, with silvered skull, mounted with acanthus leaf decoration. To the front, a helmet plate with title strap inscribed “Montgomeryshire Yeomanry Cavalry” and Welsh dragon to centre. To the crown a white horsehair plume with white metal rose boss. Two rose head pattern bosses support the interlinked leather backed chin chain and the interior with leather liner and complete with original cloth cover marked M.I.Y 848
