*** More Details Below ***This is a vintage Italian Carnelian shell cameo from around the mid 1900’s. It depicts a young lady wearing a hat with a corsage on her left shoulder. The whole scene is very charming and delightfully carved with much detail throughout. The girl’s profile is very well rendered, her eyelid, nostril and lips visible. The nose and chin are not overly pointed as in a great many cameos of that era. Her hair is fashionably short and wavy and she wears an earring and a corsage. There is fine detail there, as well as in her dress. But what I love the most about this cameo is the lovely hat. It is carved so beautifully and adds much to the overall charm of this pice. The carved shell cameo sits securely into a hallmarked 9kt classical gold mount. It may be worn as a brooch fastening by means of a hinged pin and safety roll over clasp. There is also a retractable bail for wear as a pendant. The gold is marked 9kt with Italian hallmark 377NA. This piece is a good size being circa 4.5cm x 3.5cm including the mount but not the pendant bale and weighs around 9 grams. It is in very good vintage condition with only some appropriate age-related wear. The shell is strong and stable with only some natural and very fine internal striations. There is some very mild tarnishing to the mount. This is a lovely and wearable piece that I feel would delight its new owner. Kindly see the photos as they compliment the description.
