Victorian breakfront four-door mahogany wardrobe.
Victorian breakfront four-door mahogany wardrobe. Superb colour with figured mahogany throughout, fully fitted with slides and bank of drawers, fully newly lined ready for use. This wardrobe was made around 1840 (Very early Victorian), This kind of figured mahogany by this time had near all run out, Mostly used in the preceding period William 1V (1830-1837). I wrote an article about this period on our own home page, (William 1V period furniture and its relevance. The timbers used on this piece were the last of the best-quality figured mahogany timber, as we moved into Victorian times when the quality dropped considerably, although still very good compared to 20th-century timbers Condition. Very good throughout with new interior linings.
