It is made from burr walnut which has a beautiful grain. To highlight the grain, this table has been French polished. A French polish is an alcohol and shellac polish for wood. It takes a lot of patience, but it is one of the most beautiful finishes available, producing an exceptionally high gloss.The table has four extendable leaves which can be added or removed as required by a special double wind out mechanism. When completely wound in, the table is transformed into a 150cm diameter circular dining table. The four detachable table table leaves can be stored away until they are required. Four elegantl legs hold up the large table and are fitted with brass castors.The table top has exquisite marquetry decorations. These regal decorations include bouquets of beautiful flowers, vases, swirls and geometric designs.The fourteen inlaid Regency style chairs comprise a pair of armchairs and twelve chairs. They are made of solid walnut and have upholstered drop in seats which can be removed so that the cane seats below can be used in warm weather.ConditionThis set is in extremely good condition. The 4 leaves are 70 cm each. Chairs:The 2 armchairs are approximately 56cm wide, 53cm deep and 105cm high.The12 chairs are approximately 48cm wide, 46cm deep and 105cm high.
