Ref 11456 - A really wonderful and rare 18th century ten sided decagonal tortoise shell and ivory tea caddy with silver pique work and mother of pearl decoration to the top and front panel. The top and bottom edges are banded with ivory, the four small lozenge feet and the interior facing and inner lid handle are ivory as well. Both the green velvet covering of the inside lid and the paper on the base are all original. Condition is exceptional for such an early caddy, which is circa 1785. This beautiful single tea caddy is quite small and measures only 4.5 x 2.75 x 3.5 inches high, 11 x 7 x 9 cms. Legally exported with a CITES permit, but delivery can take around 4/6 weeks because of the paperwork involved.
