Two very similar early 19th century Georgian rosewood and satinwood turn over top card tables. The two tables could well have come out of the same workshop as they have very similar cross bandings and inlays. The table tops are rosewood veneered with broad satinwood cross banding and a box wood strung edge. The friezes below the tops have a box wood edge and are decorated with panels of satinwood inlay. The bases have a small oblong platform with four sabre shaped legs that are box wood strung and terminate in gilt cast brass claws toes with casters. The platform has four turned rosewood pillars that support the top. The table tops rotate to reveal a storage compartment, the tops then fold open to a baize covered playing surface for cards or games. The tables are in very good condition, the baize playing surfaces do show signs of wear. (Circa 1810) Height 75.5cm (29.7 inches) Width 91.5cm (36 inches) Depth 45.3cm (17.8 inches) Two Rosewood & Satinwood Card Tables
